Welcome to Reef Resort, you connection to “the land of smiles’ in Praia de Xai Xai, Mozambique.  We offer self-catering accommodation at Reef Resort and serve scrumptious meals at Café Pescador, our restaurant on the premises, which is open for breakfast, lunch and supper – 7 days a week.  We also host and cater for conferences, functions and team building for up to 100 people at our Conference/Function venue.

Xai Xai (pronounced' Shai Shai') is a large town in the south of Mozambique, situated on the Limpopo River, 220 kilometres north of the capital, Maputo. Xai Xai is the capital of the Gaza Province. English is spoken in Mozambique, but the official language in Mozambique is Portuguese. Portuguese and Shangaan are the languages spoken in the Gaza Province.

Reef Resort Accommodation

Reef Resort offers accommodation in spacious beach houses and villas. There are 2 different sizes to choose from: Two bedroom houses (sleeps 4) and 3 bedroom houses / villas (sleeps 6-8). 

All the houses have magnificent views of the ocean, they have their own splash pool with air-conditioned rooms and they are serviced daily. 

Accommodation can be booked for self-catering or we can provide meals at our restaurant on the premises.

Cocktail Bar

Come and enjoy a selection of cocktails, gins, local beers and live music performances.

Café Pescador

Our restaurant Café Pescador is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner daily and there is a 100-seater venue available for meetings / functions. Open 7 days a week, so treat yourself to the freshest seafood, grilled piri piri chicken, succulent steaks, pizzas, decadent desserts and much more!

Activities at Reef Resort

Besides walks on beautiful, deserted, undeveloped, long stretches of white beaches (and the warm ocean to dip into when the sand beneath your feet becomes too hot), Mozambique also offers the following attractions and activities:

• Relaxing at the beach
• Safe areas for swimming - there are a few nearby beaches to choose from
• Deep sea fishing - charters available on 'African Dawn' - offered by Reef Resort
• Shore fishing
• Snorkelling along the protective reef (we have a limited amount of snorkelling gear for hire)
• Wenela Tidal Pool and Blowhole
• An outing to the local market is a must and this is also where you will be able to replenish your fruit and vegetable supplies
• Perfect photographic panoramas from any angle
• Dolphin and whale watching to be viewed from the comfort of your own balcony. Whale watching is only available during the winter months.
• A magnificent sunset to be observed, anywhere really, but the dunes are recommended for a relaxing sundowner with a local 2M or Laurentina beer to reflect at the end of a fun, sun filled day!
• Deep sea diving and ocean 'safaris' - sightseeing tours (offered by an independent company, based in Praia de Xai Xai)
• Bird watching
• Next-door is the Blue Dolphin Resort: they serve delicious, fresh seafood snacks, and they have Karaoke sing-alongs on certain nights.
