Lichinga

General Information

Lichinga is the capital city of Niassa Province of Mozambique.  The town lies on the Lichinga Plateau at a high altitude of approximately 1360m and east of Lake Niassa (Lake Malawi).

Lichinga's economy has been based on forestry activities and is surrounded by a pine tree plantation and Jacaranda groves.  This town is hub of activity for people travelling to and from Lake Niassa and Malawi.
